Here is some more developing NBA draft stories, along with some feedback from me.
Roy Hibbert will return to Georgetown for his senior season. Since it was so many big men in this years draft and he’d probably be selected 7-14. With next years draft he could be a top 5 with the lack of quality big men in that draft. His teammate Jeff Green is also expected to return for his senior season. So he could also be a top 5 pick next year. But furthermore with the team the Hoyas have next year they could win the championship. I definitely respect both Roy and Jeff with handling the draft process wisely and I wish them the best of luck with their basketball careers.
As I reported 2 weeks ago about the 10 players the Boston Celtics were looking at Durant, Oden, B. Wright, Horford, Conley Jr, Jianlian, Hawes, Brewer, J. Wright, and J. Green. Well earlier I spoke with the same person close within the Celtics franchise, and first the person expressed some disappointment in falling to the fifth pick, but they were prepared for the worst. The person said "they still have a lot of players to look at but said right now their top 5 choices could be Yi Jianlian, Joakim Noah, Brandan Wright, Mike Conley Jr, and Julian Wright. But said of course it’s still way too early to talk about it deeper". If I were the Celtics I would look hard at Brandan Wright, Yi Jianlian, and Mike Conley Jr.
Jerry West wasn’t too happy with the way the lottery went down last night he said " It’s about as disappointing as you could ever hope for". He also said "It’s like pitching pennies. It’s grossly unfair to the team, but I’ve said it before, I don’t think the lottery is fair. I never liked it. I don’t think it’s a good system at all period. There have been a lot of picks in the lottery that have failed. There are two in the lottery this year that are not going to fail. There are two superstars in the draft. I think for teams fortunate enough to get them, the fortunes of their franchises have changed forever". Personally I think Mr. NBA (Jerry West) is an awesome guy, but when things don’t go his way he can become a cry baby. It is unfortunate that the Grizzles were the worst team in the league and it just got worst, but I think the NBA has the best and most interesting draft system in all of sports. I don’t see why leagues reward the worst team with the best upcoming young talent, they certainly didn’t deserve it. It may never happen but I think a pro league should let the champion pick first. Some may say well that’s like letting the rich get richer, but at least they earned it. It gives them an extra incentive, not only would teams be working hard for a ring, but the top draft pick to. When you have the worst teams getting the chances at it, there are times they may want to start sitting key players and try other things to hinder their chances in winning games. I hate saying that but it’s valid and history has proved that statement right. I’m not saying all bad teams do it, but you wouldn’t have any problem with that if tops teams were rewarded with the top pick.
