Mr. Wright Now!

Mr. Wright Now

North Carolina freshman Brandan Wright will be announcing his intentions to enter the NBA draft. For the last few weeks he’s been trying to decide to turn pro or not, but knowing his potential to be a top 5 pick he decided to go pro, with his coach Roy Williams blessings.

Wright is 6’10, 210 pounds with a 7’4 wingspan and some nice tools to his game, he has athleticism, he finishes great around the basket, has nice NBA length but needs to add some weight. He has nice hands able to catch any pass that comes his way, he has alot of quickness and can run the floor real well. Wright has great moves that can set him apart from other young draft prospects. He plays well in the perimeter and in the low post defensively and covers alot of the floor with great instincts and his shot blocking ability. Brandan has a nice jump hook shot, can hit jimp shots with either hand and has a high quick release to his shot which makes it hard to block. Brandan has great awareness of where he is at on the floor and able to get to the glass quickly. He has developed a one dribble pull-up shot from about 10-12 feet, but still has akward shooting mechanics his elbow comes out to the side each time, although it helps him get to the free throw line, his shooting mechanics need to be taken to a mechanic to get it worked on, then he can cause a team to more uaware on how to guard him. He has nice body control, can throw down all types of dunks and can put back shots real well, and also is a good transition player.

To me the biggest downside to his game is how laid back Brandan is he doesn’t always play with alot of fire almost like he’s bored, and has inconsistent focus on doing things that should be done on the floor. It could be because he’s still very young, or maybe low enthausiam is in his character, but we’ll find out once he steps on an NBA court playing against men who bring passion on a nightly basis. Another thing Brandan will need to do is build some upper body strength he struggled with big men down low and had to relie on his athleticism against them, that may not work in the pors for long.

Overall Brandan Wright has alot of talent and should develop more of a complete game once he gains experience, it’s pretty hard to pass on the draft whwn you should be picked in the top 5, it may take him a couple years to adapt to the NBA level, but once he does the team that selects him will know they made the Wright choice!

I agree Jessica, dude is punk, people make mistakes, I understand he’s a fan. Plus if he knew his own team and players, he’d know most of the season Brandan has been projected a top 5 pick. But I’ll also agree that if Brandan stayed he’d could be the overall #1 pick next year. I love hoopsvibe.com, and Lances reviews, keep up the good work guys. Your regular fans got your back. .

That guy who wrote that about hoopsvibe is a jerk, I understand he’s a TarHeel fan but that doesn’t give him the right to start bashing you guys for reporting valid news. You were very professional Lance and I will always be a fan of you and hoopsvibe.com you guys keep up the good work. .

I have pointed the mistake out to the staff member, it was an honest mistake. We here at hoopsvibe.com, do our very best to present the best work possible. A few close sources within the Wright and TarHeel camp, have said they will make an announcement later today. We are sorry for the mix up and hope you continue to visit hoopsvibe.com, thank you! .

I am still holding out. I’m hoping this site has no credibility based on the picture in this article is of Tywon Lawson. But I certainly would believe he’d enter if he’s lottery. Best of luck, we hardly knew you. I truly believe he would be #1 overall if he stayed one more year. But his ability to score in the low post with right and left hand are as fine as I’ve ever seen. I think he set an ACC (maybe NCAA) record for freshman FG %. .

if you looked closely at his game you can see the potential, again he does do things that separates him from other college players in the draft. He can hang with any teams best player, including Kevin Durant, and others. .

I like the review on Brandan, he has talent, don’t forget guys he’s still a freshman, let him develop some maturity before you place judgement too quickly. Like Lance said he does some things that set him apart from other young draft prospects. .

I agree its not worth it, he really did look bored playing basketball this season. Picking him could be a risk. Take Julian Wright, not Brandan Wright. .

Not Worth It

Then why would a team want to pick a player like him that high, not knowing when the hell he’ll give full effort. It’s one thing to pick a player on potential, but to pick him potential playing with heart is not smart. Pa-------on him top 5 teams, not worth it. .

man. i seen every tarheel game this season, and I agree with Lance totally, and for the haters on BW that say they can’t see his skill for being a top 5 pick, I’ll admit he only plays wit like 70% passion and still be ballin on dudes, so just think when he does put 100% in he’ll dominate the court. Hes the Randy Moss of basketball, he can turn it on when he wants. .

Until I see Brandan play more, I would say Drew is better, but BW has some potential. .

I think that might be a fair assement, Drew is a solid NBA player, him and Brandan have some similarites. .

Brandan made the Wright choice by coming out, it’s smart on his part knowing he’s ranked a top 5 pick, because based on his reviews it sounds like he could slip in the future, and watching him he doesn’t seem like college is where he wants to be at anyway. .

I agree with BD what is so special about Brandan Wright, there is nothing that stands out about him, he has some talent but more like late lottery, not top 5 material.I would pa-------on him. .

Honestly I don’t see why everyone thinks he’s a top 5 pick he’s ok, but is more of a late lottery pick to me. .
