Randolph Morris has run off 03.31.2007 - Updated on 03.31.2007
 | | | | | | | | | | Where did Randolph Morris run to? Well to the NBA of course! Why did he do it? Well let’s dig deeper to see! When Tubby Smith got fired, Randolph Morris the 6’11, 266 pound forward, decided to leave the Kentucky Wildcats and sign with the NY Knicks. This is not the first time he has left the wildcats hanging. Instead of waiting to see who the new coach would be, like Kentucky had thought, he didn’t tell them. Previously before that in 2005, Morris declared for the draft, went undrafted and was able to return to the Wildcats. By Morris becoming an NBA free agent, he was able to sign with any team that him and his agent thought would be the best situation for him. Instead of being drafted by a team that could prolong his development. For a player like Randolph this is a good scenario, because many team reps, were not very high on him away, hurting his draft chances.
By signing with the Knicks, Morris will make less than a million dollars a year, but if he plays well throughout the two year contract, his next contract could be quite nice, and would most likely put him in a better position, than if he was to get drafted. As a best case scenario he is projected to be like Jamaal Magloire, and as a worst case scenario like Brendon Haywood. The pros about Morris is he has great NBA size and pretty quick for his size. He is a good 10-15 foot turn-around shooter. The cons about him is he should be a better rebounder, he is very predictable on offense and needs to be more creative. Personally I think Morris should have come back for his senior season, to put the finishing touches on his game, because he does have alot of skill that can allow him to have a solid pro career, but it’s really hard to see him being ready for the daily NBA grind. Most likely he’ll spend alot of time at the end of the bench and not developing consistency.
But overall Randolph Morris felt he made the decision that he thought was best for him. I’m not going to hate on him for it, good luck Randolph! But will say I hope this doesn’t become a trend that college players pick up. |

Posted by Hoops Hater on 05.16.2007 | Dumb Dumb, you only played 5 NBA games and did absolutely nothing in 8 minutes of time, but take time up for someone else. You should have stayed and you’d atleast be a late first round pick next year. Was it worth it leave KU so rapidly? Maybe you’ll be better next year if Isiah even gives you that long to stick around. . | Posted by UK homie on 04.3.2007 | Morris is so over rated everyone actually thinks he is good. . | Posted by on 04.1.2007 | Tubby basically got fired, every year they want to let him him go, they just forced his hand to leave for another opportunity, that was less stressful. . | Posted by jason on 04.1.2007 | This was an interesting article, thank you Lance for breaking down, why it was possible for Morris to do the things he did. . | Posted by Randolph Morris on 04.1.2007 | I will explain my actions for what I did, here it is. IM STUPID, PERIOD! . | Posted by Sullee on 04.1.2007 | Morris is an ungrateful person, he thinks he’s better than he really is. . | Posted by on 04.1.2007 | Morris will be a flop, if he would have come back, I agree with Lance he would have been better off. . | Posted by UK FAN on 04.1.2007 | It was a selfish thing to do of Randolph Morris. Kentucky welcomed him back with open arms after he went undrafted in 2005 and this is how he repays them. I guess setting on the bench in the pros’ for the next couple of season rather than be a senior star for the wildcats is what he wanted to do. . | Posted by devin tha dude on 04.1.2007 | Good article Lance, you rock! . | Posted by on 03.31.2007 | Tubby quit. . |
