For anyone who has ever seen Morris Almond play, knows it is a joy to watch him. The 6’6, 215 pound guard/forward from Rice has a 6’10 wingspan, is very muscular and no doubt is NBA ready physically.
Morris can flat out score, he is a good three point shooter, and is very creative when trying to score. He is like Richard Hamilton when coming off screens, he has that ability to get the quick shot and knock it down from the perimeter. He prefers to settle for jump shots, but when he takes it to the hole, he is a great finisher and can draw fouls. he is also good at finding an open teammate, creating shots for them. Morris moves great without the ball going left and right, being able to break down defenses no matter where he is at on the court. Morris is a great free throw shooter, and goes to the line 10-12 times a game.
It has been amazing to watch Morris grow as a player the last two years, he has improved his game big time each year, and is a perfect example of what staying all four years can do to a players game. Morris does need to improve on his ball-handling skills, he is weak with his right hand. Sometimes when he’s pressured, he tends to throw up a wild shot, hoping it goes in, he needs to be wiser when it comes to those type of situations.
Defensively Morris needs to show some improvement, he doesn’t always put full effort in, and offensive players take advantage of that. Overall scouts love his skills and know that he is capable of improving his weaknesses quickly. He is a very smart player, and to me will play like Corey Maggette at his best, and at his worse will play like Devean George. But there is no doubt in my mind that Morris Almond will have a very nice pro career.
