I say no to Joakim Noah 04.2.2007 - Updated on 04.2.2007
 | | | | | | | | | | Now realize alot of people may disagree with what I’am about to write, but that’s ok, I’m not saying I’m right or wrong, I’m saying what I feel right now. When Joakim Noah gets drafted to the NBA, I think he will be very average at best. As a college player he is very good, but to me he will be one of those players whose game will not adapt to the pros. Experts have him as a top 10 pick that will make an immediate empact. He has been compared to Marcus Camby, Boris Diaw, and Anderson Varejao. But I see him being more like Michael Olowokandi, Marcus Fizer, Rodney White, Jonathan Bender, Robert Traylor, Dejaun Wagner, or Nikoloz Tskitishvilli. These are examples of players chosen in the top 10 in the past, that didn’t really pan out. At 6’11 and 227 pounds with an amazing wing span that helps him on offensive and defensive, he will probably be a power forward until he bulks up. His strengths are, he can play multiple postions 3,4 and 5. He can bring the ball up the floor with his good ball-handling skills. He is very athletic. He is a good defender, shot blocker, and rebounder. Decent on offense, and he definitely brings alot of energy. His weaknesses are, he lacks the bulk for a player his height, to bump and gring daily in the NBA. Bigger players tend to have their way with him. He tends to get in foul trouble early, that ends up hurting his team. Joakim needs to work on his low-post game, and his shooting ability. Now again I’ am not saying that Joakim is a bad player, but I really think he’ll be a player that had a great college career, and be drafted in the top 10, but just struggles to make the transition to the NBA game. Hopefully he will have a good pro career, we’ll have to wait and see! |

Posted by JN is a Chump on 05.27.2007 | Right on Lance, I also say no to Noah. He’s garbage he’ll be like Mark Madsen, a high energy hustler eho comes off the bench for 20 minutes and make get a few put backs and rebounds, and ocassional block. But nothing more than that. He is way overrated and wouldn’t look as good without the other three juniors to bail him out. . | Posted by Amber A Jones on 05.8.2007 | Please say yes to being my boyfriend Lance. I sent you some emails did you get them? Pls reply back ASAP AAJ1982@inbox.comLuv Amber! . | Posted by henry christenson on 04.27.2007 | D-Wag had chances after injury. He didn’t pan out tho, players are just better than him at this level even tho, he’s go talent. Thats whay the warriors dropped him. N-E- Way back to this article, I totally agree with Lance on Noah, good collge player, but he’ll be a nobody at the end of the bench, getting garbage minutes. If I ws a lottery team I’d pa-------on him, for sure. . | Posted by on 04.16.2007 | Lance, great article man, I couldn’t agree more. Maybe it’s the hair but Noah reminds me a lot of Andersen Verajao—a high energy garbage man who comes off the bench. Granted, Noah is a solid—though extremely foul-prone—defender, but what would he do on offense if it weren’t for Horford constantly drawing double-teams or Brewer getting into the lane all the time? Where do the putbacks or wide-open dunks come from without those two stars monopolizing the defense’s attention?I also think people put too much stock in the fact that he’s "a winner" in college. Unless your name is Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant, no single player is responsible for a team’s success. Heck, Noah was only the third best player on the Gators this past season. Bottom line on Noah: great in college, but not exactly the type of player you can build your franchise around (which is what you’re looking to get in the first 5 or 6 picks, where Noah is projected to go). . | Posted by on 04.14.2007 | Wagner has nothing to do in this list, he’s way better but health problems. . | Posted by The Truth on 04.6.2007 | Joakim Noah is a retard. He has a lot of holes in his game, but he will not have the smarts to put it all together. His passion is good and it did help keep his team together and focused, but Brewer and Horford are responsible for the second championship. Noah looks better because no defense in college ball can cover Brewer, Horford AND Noah. So what happens? They cover the best two with their best defenders and Noah is able to clean up. He sucks and will fail in the NBA. Noah is the very definition of over-rated. . | Posted by LANCE WALTON FAN! on 04.4.2007 | The Turiaf comparsion is actually a good one, that may be who Joakim Noah turns into in the NBA, a guy with energy and passion, but not really a stat contributer. . | Posted by # 1 hoops fan! on 04.3.2007 | Ronnie Turaif has passion with the Lakers, that doesn’t make him a very good player. . | Posted by BasketballJones on 04.3.2007 | Ach, you are all kookoo in the head. Joachin Noah is the heart that held the team to the high standard that they proved by winning back to back. He will be an above average player. He has more to offer than most players. He has passion. . | Posted by J-Con on 04.3.2007 | In my mind Joakim is the most overated player in NCAA men’s bball. During the championship, you couldn’t even tell he was on the court, he had what, maybe 5 pts. 6-7 boards, he was in foul trouble the whole game! What 2 big men carried their teams in that game...Greg Oden and Al Horrford. In my mind, Joakim should be a late first round pick at best. Most GM’s don’t know how to draft players because look at last year’s draft. You had a 20pt. scorer and one of the best outside shooters on one of the best teams in the NCAA go UNDRAFTED last year! Anyone know who I’m talkin about...Allan Ray from Villanova went undrafted and now plays for the celtics where he has i believe at least 3-20pt. preformances off the bench this season. To end my point...which ever team drafts joakim is gonna be dissappointed in their draft pick because he’ll be lucky to average 2pts. 1 board a game and he’s not gonna be nearly as good of a pro as he was as a gator (besides, has anyone seen the way he shoots...or is that just me) . | Posted by Dan the Man on 04.3.2007 | If he would have came out last year, hw would have been a top 3 pick. But this year his stats has dropped along with his stock. I say he will be just an ok pro player. . | Posted by I know everything! on 04.3.2007 | Dude, yeah in b-ball one player can make or break a team, but Noah ain’t that type of player, to carry a team on his back and make an empact like that ecspecially not in the pros, plus the Gators play team ball. . | Posted by on 04.3.2007 | Joakim is a winner, he helped lead a team to back to back titles that rare on any level in any sport, doesn’t that count for something? I think it does! . | Posted by Anti Simon Cowell on 04.3.2007 | I think Mr. Walton is right about J.Noah, he’s a great college player, but it’s hard to see it crossing over to the pros. . | Posted by Joe Dirt on 04.3.2007 | Who is the idoit that said Joakim will be as good as Duncan, just because he has passion. I agree with Lance, he’s a good player, but will he be that same player in the pros, right now it’s hard to see it. . | Posted by on 04.2.2007 | joakim will be the greatest big man since duncan, his passion is his most underated asset. . | Posted by Jason Jackson. JR a.k.a 3J on 04.2.2007 | I think it will be a toss up on how, Joakim Noah will turn out. . | Posted by tha lookout on 04.2.2007 | J. Noah is sweet, he will be a pretty good pro player. . | Posted by on 04.2.2007 | I also agree, that he will be an average NBA player, I dont understand the hype around him. . | Posted by bobby lee on 04.2.2007 | I agree with you Lance Joakim is overrated. . | 1 2 Next >
