Some of you may know who Tiago Splitter is, others may not, but lets all take a look and see what type of basketball player he is. Tiago is 7’0, 245 pounds with a 7’2 wingspan, he’s lon, tough, intense, and athletic.
He has lots of skills and has become a well known name on the international scene. he has developed into a good big man player the last few years, having a nice combination of perimeter and low-post skills. He has quickness, some decent strength and not afraid of contact, he has a swagger to his attitude. Tiago is a good versatile defender, able to switch rotations and makes good decisions, understands different movements and he has good lateral quickness. He is not a very good shot blocker, but does have excellent timing in pick and roll type plays, and he doesn’t foul a lot.
He has become known as an intimidator on defense. Tiago has a high basketball IQ, has a good character, mature, smart, and is a hard worker putting in full effort in practice, games, or just casual play. He is known as a very coachable player. Tiago is a good passer, has a great understanding of off the ball movement, and he likes to throw down two-handed dunks. He is good with both hands and finishes well with them in half court sets down low. He likes to create his shots using basic low post moves with a nice soft touch. He likes to use a spin move and score with a lay up and has developed a right-handed semi hook shot close to the basket. He has good ball-handling skills, nice footwork, and can hit three pointers.
Tiago needs to still improve on his one on one game, he also should bulk up some. He needs to improve his overall shooting skills, jump shots, free throws, etc. He struggles posting up and boxing out more physical players, but he doesn’t back down. Tiago sometimes has a habit of causing turnovers by letting the ball slip out his hands. He could also improve his rebounding skills.
He is not a superstar player but three main things stand out about his game that will help him be a successful NBA player is his attitude, his physical tools, and his basic basketball talent. That’s a good combination to have. I believe Tiago Splitter should be a top 15 pick and whoever selects him will get a solid hard working player.
