Here are players five and six on my list of top 10 international prospects 20 and under.
5. Tim Ohlbrecht: Is 6’11, 228 pounds, 18 years old from Wuppertal, Germany.
He can play four different positions. He has great fundamentals. He is athletic, quick, and has decent frame on his body. He is a decent rebounder and a very good shot blocker. He has polished moves in the post and he finishes well around the basket. He has solid ball handling and passing skills, and good court vision. He runs the floor very well, and plays half court and transition ball pretty well. He has a very consistent jump shot. He is a solid defender.
Tim does have a habit of picking up silly fouls. He can be an inconsistent scorer. He can be too laid back and hopefully he’ll show more passion and aggression in the future. The competition he played against hasn’t been very challenging for him yet. He sort of reminds me of Charlie Villanueva.
6. Omri Casspi: Is 6’8, 220 pounds, 19 years old from Rehovot, Israel.
He has real deep shooting range. He prefers to shoot than slash, but he has skills to slash to the basket. He is good one on one, he does a great job of getting to the basket and finishing well after contact. He has a great short-range jumper. He passes the the ball well in transition, he is pretty explosive and runs the floor well. He is a good perimeter shooter. He is capable of getting steals and scoring points after the steal. He has pretty good awareness.
He is not a very good rebounder. He doesn’t play defense with a passion, he basically just looks to get back on the end to score points. I believe he could be a star player in Europe, and just a solid NBA player. He will need to play good and stand out these next couple years to have NBA teams consider him a legit prospect. I see similarities between him and Adam Morrison.
