NBA Draft Updates

  By Lance Walton
05.29.2008 - Updated on 08.1.2008

Here are some brief NBA draft stories being talked about at the moment.

- Sources close to the Timberwolves are saying Kevin McHale and his staff are trying to decide who they think is the better fit for their team. Front-court forward Kevin Love, or back-court guard O.J. Mayo. Right now Kevin McHale feels like Kevin Love would be an excellent complement to Al Jefferson.

- Scouts have listed 15 players that are rising and falling on draft boards. The prospects that are rising are: Anthony Randolph, Joe Alexander, Russell Westbrook, Marreesse Speights, JaVale McGee, Alexis Ajinca, Jason Thompson, and Courtney Lee. The prospects that are falling are: Chase Budinger, Nicolas Batum, Donte Greene, Roy Hibbert, DeVon Hardin, Ty Lawson, and Bill Walker.

- The Supersonics are really becoming interested in point guard Jerryd Bayless. They feel he could be an upgrade from current point guards Earl Watson and Luke Ridnour. But if they don’t have a positive feel for Jerryd after they meet with him in person, they’ll turn their sights to guard Eric Gordon.

- After legit point guards Derrick Rose and Jerryd Bayless come off the draft board, team executives are trying to figure out who is the next best point guard selection, D.J. Augustin or Russell Westbrook. Some feel it would be Russell Westbrook going at number 7 to the L.A. Clippers.

- The Detroit Pistons, known to make promises to draft prospects, are at it again. Sources say they again want to lock up big man DeVon Hardin, whom they promised a spot last year, but he decided to return to school. There have also been rumors they have serious interest in forwards D.J. White and Jason Thompson.

- NBA Executives around the league are saying the Miami Heat have quietly said they are willing to trade the number two pick for the right veteran player, or a young established player they feel can turn them around instantly. One name being mentioned is Mavericks shooting guard Josh Howard; other players or teams would have to be included to get the numbers to match.

Lance, you are basically stealing news that legit reporters are reporting and saying it as if it’s your own info, without crediting the legit reporters whose info it is .

Lance, why do you pretend to know anything about the draft? You just read what other sites report and summarize it in your own words .

The pistons should get Joey Dorsey, he could be the next Ben Wallace, dude is a beast. But they’ll probably want a low-post guy who can score like Jason Thompson or DeVon Hardin .

When the pistons usually make draft promises, they usually come through and get that player. I’m not gonna count Joe Dumars out on getting a player locked in already, even when he says it’s not true. That’s what makes him oneof the best. He did it with Rodney Stuckey last year and many players before that .

DeVon Hardin would be a great addition to the pistons front-court. Him and Maxiell down low in the post in the future will be beast .

t-wolves better go with Kevin Love, it makes more sense for them to take a big man, instead of drafting another guard we basically the same style as the others. O.J. may be better, but he isn’t necessary .

Miami better keep the pick or find a better trade because, Josh Howard is a bum, who smokes the hippie lettuce .
