Derrick Rose Profile

Derrick Rose Profile

Derrick Rose is 6’4, 200 pounds and will be a freshman at Memphis. He has become a very good PG, he knows how to run a team and he makes his teammates better.

He is a pass first PG with great court vision, he always seems to find an open teammate even when the pass seems impossible. He is a great ball handler and is hard to guard one on one. He has a great team attitude and likes to get to know his teammates on a personal level to develop chemistry on and off the court. He can pass defenders easily and likes to drive to the basket, and he is an excellent finisher when hit with contact.

He is a very good free throw shooter, and is also very good using different moves to score around the basket. Derrick is laid-back, very positive, and a hard worker. He is very competitive, has a high basketball IQ, and is a good decision maker. He has a lot of quickness, long arms, and a pretty strong body with good body control. He is a good rebounder and leaper. He can throw down some nice dunks. Derrick is a clutch player and he likes the ball in his hands during crunch time, especially against the top level competition. He likes to shoot fade aways and likes to hang in the air when he shoots. He is a lock down defender with quick hands. He has nice passing and dunking abilities on the fast break. Most of the time he gives his all on both ends of the floor, there are rare occasions when he’s taking it easy on the court. Derrick can be a streaky shooter at times, but his jump shot continues to improve. He is a lead by example player, but isn’t very vocal, but I think he will be in the future.

He relies too much on his power and quickness to separate from defenders, he is talented and creative enough to do more. He is still learning how to run an offense, before he was too much of a focused scorer. He seems more comfortable in an up tempo game, and has been working to improve on the half court style. Overall Derrick Rose is an amazing young talent and one of the most athletic PGs I’ve ever seen. I see a combination of two great players in him, he has Dwyane Wade athleticism with Chauncey Billups PG abilities. He should no doubt be very effective playing for coach Calipari.

ah, I swear this kid would be perfect for the Phoenix Suns! He seems to the the type of player they like on and off the court, and he’d be great as Nash’s backup as they start cutting down his minutes (like Stockton) and eventually as his replacement. Atlanta’s pick probably won’t end up that high, though... .

I think Derrick Rose made a great decision. Memphis fits his style of play while all these other schools want to set up half court offense,. Rose is a run and gun type of player so going to one of these other schools would have limited his potential. Plus Memphis didnt lose anybody from last years elite 8 team. Great decision for Rose. When Memphis is ranked number one in the nation we’ll know why! .

I have heard so much about Derrick Rose, but I haven’t seen him play yet. But looking at his profile he sounds like a very very good player and a must see! I’m looking forward to seeing his games and highlights! .

If D-Rose decides to play just one year next season. I would take him #1 overall. I truly think he’s one of the best young prospects of all-time like Jessica S said. He is the type of player you wanna build your team around for sure. .

Memphis is a great program for D.Rose, Jamie. His skills fit right in with coach Calipari’s system. Derrick is gonna be a dominate PG on the floor and he is a big playmaker like Chauncey Billups. He is one of the best PG prospects of all-time. To me he is actually underrated. .

If he could’ve came to the NBA straight out of high school he would’ve been the 1st or 2nd PG taken in the draft. Mike Conley Jr ain’t got nothing on Derrick Rose. Derrick is the top PG in Memphis, not Conley Jr, anyone dare to disagree with me? .

I totally agree with Dee, it’s about the overall fit, not just the high profile programs. For example UCLA had he been their he would’ve had to split the minutes with Darren Collison. At Memphis he can come in and get major minutes right away. .

It’s not always about going to the best high profile school JKW. It’s about the best fit overall. Memphis is a perfect fit for Derrick. John Calipari is running a good program at Memphis. He brought a small school to a big time playing level. Hopefully Derrick can help take them even further to the next level .

I know people may disagree with me on this but Derrick Rose should have been at a much bigger school than Memphis. He had offers at Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and even UCLA had a little interest. Then there were the smaller solid programs like Memphis, Marquette, and DePaul. The talent skills he has all the top programs should have jumped on him. The lesser quality PGs in his cla-------are even going to better programs. I just don’t get it. Memphis ain’t bad, but it ain’t the best of the best either. .

He definetly has the combo of DWade and Mr.Big Shot! Too bad he couldn’t just skip college and go straight to the pros. He is very exciting to watch! .
