Gabe Pruitt Breakdown

Gabe Pruitt is 6’4, 170 pounds and has made the decision to turn pro and has signed with Los Angeles Excel Sports Management. He said "I just felt that it was in my best interest to move on with my basketball career and focus fully on basketball right now".

This years draft has lots of talent but point guard is the weakest out of all the positions with really only three legit point guards Mike Conley Jr, Acie Law, and Javaris Crittenton, Gabe has a better chance this year to be a first rounder than next year when at least 6 point guards are better than him. So I can’t say I disagree with his decision.

Gabe has a lot of quickness, he has a good basketball IQ, is very athletic, and has a nice height for a point guard. He is a good three point shooter, and is great offensively able to drive to the basket or knock down jump shots from many places on the floor. He is also a good clutch player who knows how to take over during crunch time. Gabe is a good defender, has good awareness and has quick hands. He also has a lot of agility, is a good leaper and has good body control.

Gabe does have a tendency to try and do too much, but he learns to keep control of himself most of the time. He must also learn to protect the ball a little better. He could still improve his point guard skills by getting his teammates involved more, controlling the tempo better, and be a little more passive than a focused scorer. When I watch him play he reminds me of Devin Harris.

It will most likely take him a few years to learn how to run the PG position on an NBA team, and I see him being a better backup point guard than a starter.

It was definetly smart for him to leave, cuz he was gonna get his spot taken away by O.J. Mayo anyway. Plus the younger kids would be drafted ahead of him next year to. Yeah this was only shot be a first rounder and get a legit shot at the NBA. .

There is a need for PGs in this draft,so he’ll be picked in anice position no doubt and be given every chance to be successful for a team, .

The last 2 years I went to all the USC home games, and consistently seen Gabe play. I agree with Lances analysis, and I also think Gabe has alot of promise in becoming atleast a good back PG in the pros. .

I don’t really like his game. He’s not really a good point guard, and he is just an ok player. I wouldn’t waste my first round pick on him though. You’re better off choosing a shooting guard and mold him into a PG, and still get better results. .

I like the Devin Harris comparsion, they do seem to have similar style in play. He’d be a good fit in San Antonio, backing up TP9. .

I agree it was WAY better for him to come this year than next, smart move Gabe. .
