Recap on the lottery prospects 06.6.2007 - Updated on 06.6.2007
 | | | | | | | | | | Here are some small brief overviews on what the potential lottery prospects looked like working out at pre-draft camp. Greg Oden- Looked very impressive, he shot and handled the ball very well. He ran the floor and threw down some massive dunks. He even tried knocking down some threes, hitting one. It was great knowing he did well while not taking drills to serious. He still looks like the number one pick to me. Kevin Durant- Threw down some massive dunks showing amazing leaping skills. His jump shots were inconsistent, he did some big man drills, and he looks like he’s getting even more slender. At times when you looked at him it was like he was focused but didn’t really want to workout. His star potential did show though. Mike Conley- His biggest weakness stood out, oh yes those jump shots of his were very poor, he really struggled past 15 feet. It probably going to take some time and hard work for him to knock those down consistently. Of course everything else in his game looked great his floaters, his quickness, his ability to catch on quick, and his maturity was outstanding. I’m impressed everytime I watch him, and he is a top 5 player to me. Corey Brewer- Shot the ball well, put in a lot of good effort, but like his gator teammate Joakim Noah, he really stands out more in a team oriented style, so nothing stood out individually. Brandan Wright- Of course his slender frame stood out, his jump shots and ball-handling skills looked very poor. He had fundamental post skills, with a nice hook shots and spin moves. He ran the floor well. He was like I expected him to be athletic, great fundamentals, but undersized and inconsistent. Al Horford- Is in very good shape, had nice footwork and post back to the basket skills. He shot the ball well,on the court looked a little stiff, but around other players he looked very comfortable. He is also like I expected him to be very solid. Julian Wright- Worked out with the big men, he looked very focused and did good doing turnaround jump hooks. would’ve been nice to beable to see him show off more skills. Overall he still basically looks the same. Al Thornton- Didn’t seem like he put in full effort, didn’t seem very focused, he knocked down a few shots. Nothing really stood out in his drills but his negative attitude. Joakim Noah- Hustled like normal, he handled the ball well, put in good effort, and shot the ball decent. He shines more in a team style, than in individual workouts. Spencer Hawes- Showed off his great post skills and his nice hump hooks. He looked very fundamentally sound and very serious about being there. Although we already knew of his mature big man skills it’s nice to see he is consistent and focused at his young age. Nick Young- Shot the ball real well, put in great effort, and his energy looked good. Overall, I believe his stock is rising and he looks quite consistent when playing. Acie Law- He didn’t seem to put inconsistent effort, his jump shot was poor. Looked frustrated, and showed flashes of why his stock maybe dropping. Rodney Stuckey- Also didn’t seem to have full focus or effort in drills. He had some nice shots at times, looked to be more into drills later on. But overall could’ve did better ecspecially since scouts want to see his skills compared to the other lottery prospects. Josh McRoberts- He looked in great shape, but he was obiviously nervous, and did not shoot or handle the ball well and missed alot of easy opportunities. He looked athletic and showed great fundamentals. But was his regular self, shows flashes of greatness, but still also very inconsistent. Jason Smith- Showed his polished skills, and peaking the interest as he becomes more known. Overall had a nice workout, and showed alot of potential and consistent skills. His stock maybe on the rise. Thaddeus Young- Went to the basket hard, didn’t do much to change the opinion of observers, he basically did his well known jump-hook shot. His body looks in great shape. I’m still not sold on him being a lottery prospect. |

Posted by Fransico Frenando on 06.8.2007 | I think the most underrated lottery pick is Nick Young and I’m just saying that cuz I live in LA, his skills and abilities don’t get talked about much compared to the other potential lottery players. . | Posted by on 06.6.2007 | I heard they bring back GP and Shawn Kemp too LOL! But seriously that has to be some outrageous rumor, just to cause conflict Lenny Wilkens ain’t that stupid, he’s old but he hasn’t lost his mind yet atleast I hope not. . | Posted by Craig D on 06.6.2007 | Yeah that would be pretty dumb for them to take a mystery player like Yi over a potential star like Durant. They better have a good reason in store for wanting to do something like that. . | Posted by Maria on 06.6.2007 | Get this guys I live here in Seattle and I just heard a report on a local sports station saying, the Supersonics may pa-------on Durant if he is at number 2, how stupid are they to do something like that. I guess the rumor is they seriously like Yi Jianlian. UNBELIEVEABLE! . | Posted by Stacey on 06.6.2007 | all season long Oden has played well without being or putting in 100% that should tell people right there that he is stilled. plus his drills killed Durants, people should shut up now about Durant being the number one pick, he’s good but not Oden good. . | Posted by on 06.6.2007 | iT SOUNDS LIKE MOST OF THESE PLAYERS DID OK, AND SHOWED OBSERVERS ALEAST A LITTLE SOMETHING TO HAVE THEM THINKING ON WHAT THEY MIGHT WANT TO DO, BUT ITS STILL EARLY AND I BET THINGS ARE ABOUT GET REAL INTERESTING WITH THE DRAFT. . | Posted by BIG HOMIE! on 06.6.2007 | I bet if Conley got a personal shooting coach like Steve Smith or Reggie Miller, he’d be on point cuase shooting is his only flaw. . | Posted by Jason on 06.6.2007 | It sounds like T. Young and J.Wright took the ease way out, doing the simple things they do best and trying to pa-------it off as there doing some skills well to get noticed. That’s an interesting move. . | Posted by on 06.6.2007 | Most of these players are probably just waiting to be serious when their private workouts come around. . | Posted by on 06.6.2007 | Smith and Young are on the rise with there good effort and consistent play, they’ll move into lottery spots I bet. . | Posted by Terrance J a.k.a. TJ on 06.6.2007 | I wonder what was up the butt of Thornton, Law, Stuckey and Durant? This should be an enjoyable time for them. . | Posted by Corey Hunter on 06.6.2007 | Thats funny Greg is still dominating and he was just playing around LOL! . | Posted by Steven on 06.6.2007 | It sounds like some of these players didn’t want to be there, and show off in front of scouts. Thats not a good sign. . |
