Talking with NBA Prospects

Here are some brief Q&A with Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Mike Conley Jr and Spencer Hawes in New York.

Greg Oden

Question: So what’s the feeling you have inside right now being the number one overall pick?
Anwser:
Man it feels so great, it’s been a long process and I’m just anxious to get on the court and give it my all for Portland.

Question: Who are you looking forward to playing against in the NBA?
Anwser: Truthfully I’m just gald to get the chance to be on the same court with so many great players. But I guess one player it will be fun to play against is Tim Duncan.

Question: So are you going to make any big purchases?
Anwser: I’m going to try and be a modest spender and build my money up. I don’t want to go broke overnight (LOL!).

Kevin Durant

Question: So it looks like you’ll be the man in Seattle with Ray Allen gone how does that feel?
Anwser:
Well I was expecting him to be our top player and I could help take the load off him. But now I will make the best of this opportunity. We have a good young team and I’m excited no matter what!

Question: Was it a little embrassing having your mom wipe your face off on national TV?
Anwser: (LOL!) Naw it was a little funny just seeing that pop up. But my mom just wants me to look my best!

Question: What are you going to do with your first paycheck?
Anwser: Whatever my mom wants she’s getting it!

Mike Conley Jr

Question: How do you feel going to Memphis?
Anwser: I feel pretty good, we have a good young team and I’m confident I can help turn things around.

Question: Hot seat question- Who will get to a championship first you or Greg Oden?
Anwser: (LOL!) Cop out anwser- Good question we’ll just have to wait and see!

Question: Some rookies are big spenders, others are not which one are you?
Anwser: I’m not a big spender, I’ll probably live decent starting out. Instead of buying a mansion, I’ll get a condo.

Spencer Hawes

Question: Deep down what team did you feel you were going to?
Anwser: We kept hearing T’Wolves, Bulls, Kings, and 76ers. I just tried to not get a certain hope so it wouldn’t be a let down. I’m happy to be a Sacramento King!

Question: Will you look at Brad Miller to be a mentor starting out?
Anwser: I will definetly ask him questions and be a sponge and soak up all I can. I think Brad and I can work well together.

Question: Many observers have been critical of your "lack of toughness" what do you say to that? Anwser: It’s pretty typical. It comes with the territory of being a professional, people will praise the pros and knock the cons. I just have to go out and play the way I know best and I should be fine.

What I like about all these guys interviews, was they really seemed genuine. None of those political anwswers, I felt the realness for sure, good job guys, and good luck with your careers .

Now that Durant is the man in seattle he’ll be rookie of the year. He’ll put up similar numbers like he did at Texas. .

Common Greg Oden quit being soft. You know you gonna be balling outta control for the rest of your life now. You’ve already made atleast $20 million for the strat of your career. You can spend all of the money you want and not go broke overnight. You’re an NBA star now BABY! .

I was really hoping the Bulls would make the better choice and take my dude Spencer Hawes. But it’s cool Spencer you’ll have Brad Millers spot in 2 yrs guaranteed! .

Conley Jr will definetly help turn things around for the Grizzles. All we need to do is add some key free agents and we can be back in the playoffs within the next 2 years. .

No doubt Greg Oden will get to a championship first. Conley won’t even get close with the Grizzles. .
