Allen leads SuperSonics in rout of Milwaukee

01.20.2007

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Ray Allen poured in 21 points as the Seattle SuperSonics continued their dominance of Milwaukee with a 99-72 rout of the Bucks at KeyArena.

Damien Wilkins scored 16 points, Nick Collison and Luke Ridnour each had 13 and Collison ripped down 16 rebounds for the Sonics, who have won seven straight against Milwaukee.

Andre Brown had 10 points while Chris Wilcox added 11 boards for Seattle, which has won three in a row after a six-game losing streak.

"Defensively I though we did a good job of making them shoot over us," Collison said. "We got some baskets in transition, we were sharing the ball and they are a little short handed."

Ruben Patterson scored 16 points and Andrew Bogut contributed 14 points and seven boards for the Bucks, who have dropped two in a row and seven of their last eight.

Milwaukee is currently without guards Michael Redd (strained patellar tendon in left knee) and Mo Williams (sprained left shoulder) and forward Charlie Villanueva (right shoulder tendinitis).

"Right now we are in a position to scrape and claw for everything," Bucks coach Terry Stotts said. "Our team is what we have right now and we have to compete and play basketball."

Seattle was all over Milwaukee from the start, ripping off seven straight points to take an early 12-4 lead on Collison’s hook shot. Then, holding a 21-13 lead, the Sonics scored the final six points of the quarter to take a 27-13 lead.

It was more of the same in the second quarter as Seattle embarked on another 7-0 spurt and held a commanding 51-29 edge at the break.

The Bucks never threatened in the second half as the Sonics took 79-51 advantage into the final quarter.

"We did not take them lightly in the second half and we kept our foot on the pedal and put them away like we should," Sonics coach Bob Hill said.

Game Notes

The Bucks have lost in 15 of their last 16 trips to Seattle...The Sonics improved to 12-9 at home this season...Seattle shot 48.8 percent from the floor, while the Bucks shot just 33 percent and were outrebounded 53-40.
