(Basketball News) - Atlanta is simply playing out the string on its lost season, as it owns the third worst record (22-47) in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks have dropped seven of their last nine games, including Friday night’s 94-84 defeat to the Washington Wizards.
Stephen Jackson led Atlanta with 17 points. Bob Sura chipped in 16 points and 12 boards for the Hawks, who lost for the third time in four games. Jason Terry added 14 points and eight assists, while Jason Collier had 12 points. Boris Diaw recorded 10 points off the bench in the loss.
The Hawks mustered just 34 percent from the field in the contest, including 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from three-point range. Atlanta lost the rebounding battle, 51-44, in the contest.
Chris Crawford missed the game because of a left thumb injury, while Zeljko Rebraca continues to sit out due to lower back problems.
Atlanta has no time to rest, as it returns to the court tonight against Utah at Philips Arena. Utah won the first and only other meeting this season between the teams, 92-71, in Salt Lake City.
The Jazz have won two straight and nine of the last 11 in the set. However, Atlanta has won the last two meetings at Philips Arena.
The Hawks have won four of their last seven home contests. For the season, Atlanta owns a 14-19 mark at Philips Arena.
