Newark, DE (Basketball News) - Mike Ames netted 20 points while leading the Delaware Blue Hens to a 76-71 victory over the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds in a non-conference tilt.
Mike Slattery tallied 17 points for Delaware (5-1), while David Lunn chipped in 16 points for the Blue Hens.
Charlie Bell netted 17 points and grabbed seven boards for Loyola-Maryland (0-7), while Bernard Allen contributed 10 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort. Lindbergh Chatman scored 12 points off the bench for the Greyhounds, while Shane James added 15 points.
The Blue Hens used a 15-5 run midway through the first half to take a 35-27 lead into the break.
Delaware connected on 52 percent of its shots in the second stanza and held Loyola-Maryland to just 41.4 percent shooting from the field en route to the five-point victory.
The Blue Hens netted 50.9 percent of their shots from the floor in the contest while holding the Greyhounds to 44.2 percent shooting.
