NBA Game Summary - Chicago at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (Basketball News) - Melvin Ely tied a season high with 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Charlotte past Chicago, 93-80.

Primoz Brezec added 17 points and a season-best 14 boards while Gerald Wallace added 12 points for the Bobcats, who have won four of their last five games. Matt Carroll scored 11 in the win.

Luol Deng scored 18 points while Darius Songaila netted 12 for the Bulls, who have dropped a season-high five consecutive contests.

Leading by two points after 36 minutes, Charlotte opened the game up in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats began the period on a commanding 14-2 run to take charge. Carroll and Ely both scored four points while Wallace capped the lengthy spurt with a basket near the six-minute mark, making it 79-65.

Chicago got within eight points at 82-74, but Wallace’s three-point play moments later stretched the gap to 11 and the Bulls never threatened again.

The Bobcats won the game from the foul line, making 25-of-31 free throws, compared to only 6-of-16 shooting from the charity stripe by the visitors.

Charlotte led 22-21 after one quarter and the teams went into the locker room deadlocked at 45 apiece. The Bobcats headed into the final period with a slim 65-63 advantage.

Kirk Hinrich and Andres Nocioni both had 10 points in the loss...Charlotte won for only the second time in its last seven home contests...The Bulls ended 0-3 on a three-game road trip...Chicago leads the all-time series 5-2, but the Bobcats have taken the last two meetings...Charlotte center Emeka Okafor was on the inactive list and has missed four straight games with an ankle injury...Bobcats guard Brevin Knight (ankle) left in the second period.
