NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Allen Iverson scored 28 points and dished out 10 assists for the Philadelphia 76ers, who held on to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers, 113-108, at the Wachovia Center.

Iverson went 10-of-11 from the free throw line and had five steals in the win.

Lee Nailon poured in 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting off the bench for Philadelphia, which has won four straight since opening the season 0-3. Reserve guard John Salmons contributed 14 points.

"He was a big factor coming in off the bench and making some big baskets in the first half and the second half," said Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks of Nailon.

Elton Brand led all scorers with 32 points and Cuttino Mobley added 23 points for the Clippers, who have not won in Philadelphia since March 10, 1996. They have lost nine straight in the City of Brotherly Love.

Corey Maggette had 20 points for Los Angeles, which had a two-game win streak snapped.

The Sixers led for nearly the entire game and spent much of the contest with a double-digit advantage, but were forced to fight the Clippers off several times down the stretch.

Trailing by 13 midway through the third, LA broke off a 10-0 run to make it 70-67. Nailon, though, would answer with a jump shot and a layup to help push the lead back up to seven points after three.

Maggette sank a jumper with 10:20 remaining in the game to complete a 7-2 Clippers run to start the fourth and pull his team within two.

Iverson had the answer this time. After sinking a baseline jumper with 9:03 left, Iverson stole the ball on the defensive end, raced the length of the court and laid it in to push the lead to 94-86.

Nailon then sank a reverse layup with just under six minutes remaining to make it 101-88 Philadelphia, and the Clippers never seriously threatened from there.

Iverson went 5-for-6 in the first quarter for 14 points to help stake Philadelphia to a 31-28 lead.

The Sixers then used a 13-0 run in the second stanza, capped by a Kevin Ollie layup, to up the advantage to 46-32. They would head into the locker room with a 10-point edge.
