NBA Game Summary - New York at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (Basketball News) - Gerald Wallace netted a game-high 24 points and Kareem Rush added 22, leading the Charlotte Bobcats to a 108-95 win over the New York Knicks on Monday night.

Wallace, who had missed the previous six games with a wrist injury, knocked down 5-of-8 shots from three-point range and grabbed nine rebounds with four assists, as the Bobcats won for just the second time in nine games.

Emeka Okafor finished with 19 points and a game-high 11 boards in the win.

Stephon Marbury paced the Knicks with 21 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Jackie Butler had 13 points off the bench and rookie Channing Frye chipped in 12 for New York, which lost for the third time in four games.

Charlotte extended its halftime lead to 67-55 on a three-pointer by Wallace with about 7 1/2 minutes to go in the third quarter. With less than five minutes to go in the period, Primo Brezec added a layup to make it a 77-58 contest and the Bobcats carried an 84-63 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats outscored New York, 30-18, in the third stanza.

New York opened the fourth quarter on a 12-2 run to pull within 86-75, but consecutive three-pointers by Wallace midway through the stanza gave Charlotte a 98-81 cushion.

The Bobcats were in control the rest of the way and ended a three-game losing streak to New York.

Charlotte led by a 25-21 score after one quarter of action, and made it 45-38 on Rush’s three-pointer with about 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the first half. The Bobcats then headed to halftime with a 54-45 lead. The Knicks committed 10 turnovers in the first half, leading to 14 Charlotte points.

Rush led all scorers at the break with 18 points, while Marbury paced New York with 10 points.

Brezec had 11 points in the win...The Bobcats had a 43-33 edge on the boards...Rush was 3-of-7 from beyond the arc...Malik Rose and Quentin Richardson both contributed 10 points for the Knicks.
