East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - Vince Carter scored 22 points and dished out seven assists to lead the New Jersey Nets over the New York Knicks, 96-83, at Continental Airlines Arena.
Richard Jefferson added 18 points and eight assists for the Nets, who have won three straight overall. Nenad Krstic chipped in 14 points and eight boards for New Jersey, which improved to 3-0 on its current homestand and extended its current win streak at the Meadowlands to 12 games.

The Nets began to build a lead in the second quarter. After Qyntel Woods’ bucket with 4:55 remaining drew the Knicks within 40-36, New Jersey went on to score 13 of the final 17 points of the half to take a double-digit lead. Cliff Robinson’s three-pointer at the 1:21 mark gave the Nets a 53-38 advantage and the team cruised into the break with a 53-40 lead.
New Jersey continued to pour it on in the third quarter, using a 9-2 surge to increase its cushion to 20 points for the first time. Carter’s three-point play with 2:17 gone in the frame gave his club a 62-42 lead.
The margin later increased to 23 points, 75-52, on a Jefferson bucket with 4:10 left in the period and the Nets cruised to an 84-62 lead going into the fourth.
The Knicks never threatened in the final quarter even though the Nets turned to their reserves early in the stanza.
New Jersey’s Jason Kidd suffered a laceration over his left eye after he collided heads with Crawford in the first quarter. He went to the locker room and returned with a bandage. Kidd finished with nine points and six assists.
The Nets have won five straight against the Knicks, including both meetings so far this season.
