San Antonio, TX (Basketball News) - Tony Parker had an all-around solid performance with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 100-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the SBC Center.
Tim Duncan added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs, who won at home against the Sixers for the 18th time in the last 19 meetings. Brent Barry had 14 points and Rasho Nesterovic added 12 points and seven rebounds for San Antonio, which was again without guard Manu Ginobili due to a right foot injury.
Allen Iverson had 37 points for the Sixers, who dropped their third consecutive contest. Chris Webber had 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Samuel Dalembert tallied eight points and 11 rebounds.
"They just wanted it more than we did," Iverson said."They played defense, made stops, they got the ball to the people who could do something with it. They made big shots."
The Sixers gained a 22-18 lead after the first quarter and were ahead by as many as 10 points in the second before settling for a 44-41 edge at the half.
The Spurs went ahead for good with a 15-2 run in the third, which gave them a 70-57 advantage with 1:53 remaining in the quarter. Robert Horry’s jumper capped the rally. Barry had a key three-pointer during the push and San Antonio was in front 72-62 going into the fourth.
Two free throws by Andre Iguodala had the Sixers within 84-75 with 5:52 remaining, but the Spurs put the game away with a 12-3 spurt. Duncan’s layup and a Barry three-pointer began the run, which ended on another Barry three with 3:51 to go.
"We played a good second half. It was much better than first we executed in the third quarter," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "Bruce Bowen did a great job. He had a tough assignment earlier this week. He had Kobe (Bryant) then Dirk (Nowitzki) and now Allen Iverson. No one would envy that."
