NBA Game Summary - Phoenix at Milwaukee

03.28.2006

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Charlie Bell recorded his first career triple-double by totaling 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, career-highs in all three categories, as the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Phoenix Suns, 132-110, at the Bradley Center.

"It was a fun game when you’re hitting shots like that," said Bell. "We knew they played last night. New Jersey played really well against them and we knew they were going to be a little tired. In the third quarter we just tried to keep pushing, just keep running at them. Defensively they’re not the best team."

The Bucks set a franchise record with 18 three-pointers, which also tied the NBA season-high set by Phoenix.

Michael Redd scored a game-high 28 points, including 6-of-11 from beyond the arc, while Toni Kukoc and Dan Gadzuric each tallied 17 points off the bench for the Bucks, who moved into a sixth place tie with idle Indiana in the Eastern Conference.

Steve Nash scored 23 points and dished out seven assists for the Suns, who lost their second straight to begin a five-game road trip. Eddie House scored 19 points off the bench while Shawn Marion added 14 points and nine boards.

"They played great," said Phoenix head coach Mike D’ Antoni. "They shot the ball extremely well, obviously. But, I’m sure we were helping a little because our defense just couldn’t get to them. They hit every open shot and played really well."

The Suns were without All-Star Amare Stoudemire for the first time since his return to the lineup last Thursday against Portland. Stoudemire played only 14 minutes in Monday’s blowout loss against New Jersey and sat out Tuesday’s game because of soreness in his knees. He is expected to miss the remainder of the team’s road trip, and could be sidelined longer.

With the score tied at 80 midway through the third quarter, the Bucks exploded for a 17-3 run. Redd and Bell combined to score all 17 points, including five three-pointers. Milwaukee ended the quarter with a 104-88 lead as it scored 46 third-quarter points, a season-high for the Bucks for points in a quarter. Bell scored 14 points and Redd added 10 in the third frame.

The Bucks stayed firmly in control over the final 12 minutes as they extended their lead to as much as 24 with 3:08 left when Gadzuric got loose underneath for a dunk.

Milwaukee used a pair of 6-0 spurts to overcome an early five-point deficit and take a 25-23 lead after 12 minutes. Maurice Williams led the Bucks with six points in the opening frame.

The second quarter was tight throughout, as the Suns enjoyed the largest lead of the frame at six points, 60-54, on a Nash three. Phoenix took a 62-58 lead into the locker room as Nash led the way with 17 points.

The Bucks shot 60.5 percent from the floor and 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from beyond the arc...The two teams split the season series, 1-1, snapping a four- game win streak for Phoenix against Milwaukee...Bobby Simmons and Williams each scored 15 for the Bucks.
