NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Seattle

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Ray Allen scored 33 points, and drilled the go- ahead three-pointer with 5.4 seconds left to boost Seattle to a 106-102 victory over San Antonio.

Allen ended 13-of-23 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range, for the SuperSonics, who blew a seven-point lead with over three minutes left, only to beat the Spurs for the third time in the last 13 meetings.

"Everybody stepped up and they play big for us tonight," Allen said. "When everybody plays well, these are the result. Tonight was a sonic effort."

Luke Ridnour tallied 19 points and Rashard Lewis added 16 for the Sonics, who have alternated wins and losses in their last seven games. Lewis also hit three key free throws in the closing seconds to preserve the victory.

Tim Duncan totaled 28 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who fell into a first-place tie with Dallas for the best record in the Western Conference. Tony Parker added 17 points and 12 assists for San Antonio, which lost for just the second time in its last eight games.

"They shot the ball well," Duncan said of the Sonics. "They made some big ones down the stretch and Ray hit that big one."

A runner by Parker boosted the Spurs to a 102-100 lead with 39.5 seconds left, completing nine straight points by San Antonio.

Robert Horry then picked off a pass for the Spurs, but stepped on the sideline, giving the ball back to Seattle with 13.8 seconds left.

Allen was blocked on a drive to the basket, and the ball went out of bounds back to the Sonics. Allen then nailed his three from the right win over the outstretched left hand of Duncan.

After a timeout, the Spurs failed on the ensuing inbounds pass, with Johan Petro knocking the ball away. Lewis was fouled with 1.6 seconds left and made the first attempt, but missed the second. The Spurs couldn’t corral the rebound, and Lewis was fouled after rebounding the miss.

Lewis hit two free throws with 0.3 seconds showing to seal Seattle’s victory.

San Antonio raced to a 28-20 lead after the opening quarter before the Sonics battled back and closed within 46-42 at the half. Seattle had the game tied at 74 going into the fourth.
