NBA Game Summary - Seattle at New York

New York, NY (Basketball News) - Stephon Marbury scored 23 points and dished out a season-high 15 assists, as the New York Knicks defeated the Seattle SuperSonics, 120-116, at Madison Square Garden.

Maurice Taylor also tallied 23 points along with six rebounds and Eddy Curry added 22 points and five boards for the Knicks, who have won three straight games.

Nate Robinson contributed 17 points and fellow rookie Channing Frye scored 15 points in the victory.

Ray Allen led all scorers with 33 points and Vladimir Radmanovic poured in a career-high 30 points, including eight three-pointers, for Seattle, which has lost two straight and four of its last five games.

Radmanovic tied the record for most three-pointers made against New York in defeat.

Rashard Lewis scored 19 points and Luke Ridnour added 14 assists to go with nine points, as the Sonics shot 45.2 percent from the floor.

With 2:09 remaining, Taylor drained a jumper to keep New York in front 111-108. Radmanovic responded with a three-pointer to tie the game at 111-111 to set up the frantic finish.

Radmanovic made a jumper with 1:12 left to give Seattle a 113-111 lead, then Curry made two foul shots on the other end to square the contest once again.

After Allen missed a go-ahead jumper, Marbury penetrated and found David Lee in the right corner. The Florida product confidently drained the baseline jumper to push the Knicks in front by two with 21.6 ticks left.

Ridnour, who had missed just four free throws all season, rimmed out the first attempt and also missed the second. Trevor Ariza calmly sank two free throws for New York to make it a two-possession game at 117-113.

Radmanovic buried a trey with 6.4 seconds to play to cut the deficit to 117-116, but Robinson made two free throws to extend the Knicks lead to 119-116 with 6.1 left. Allen had a great look from the top of the circle to tie the game, but the long-distance jumper hit the back rim.

Seattle ended the first period on a 21-11 scoring streak to take a 35-25 lead. The Sonics maintained their advantage leading up to halftime, but the Knicks used a 12-5 run to tie the game at 55-55 and trailed by just one, 62-61, at the break.

New York opened a 73-67 lead during the third stanza on the heels of a 10-3 spurt capped by two Curry free throws, but Seattle responded with a 15-7 scoring run to take a slim 82-80 lead.

A jumper by Marbury at the third-quarter buzzer gave the Knicks a 91-89 advantage.
