Blazers end road trip in Memphis

12.13.2006

(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers conclude a season-long six- game road trip tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum.

Portland is 3-2 on the current swing. Zach Randolph’s driving layup with 2.4 seconds remaining lifted the Trail Blazers over the Philadelphia 76ers, 81-79, on Monday at the Wachovia Center.

Randolph finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Sixers for the Trail Blazers, who have won two in a row. Juan Dixon contributed 17 points off the bench, while Ime Udoka scored 12.

A victory tonight, would give the Trail Blazers their first three-game winning streak this season.

The Trail Blazers are 5-8 on the road this season. After tonight’s contest, they return home for a three-game stand. Portland will host the Clippers, Houston and Toronto on the upcoming homestand.

Memphis hopes to put the brakes on a three-game losing streak. On Monday, Vince Carter posted 37 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals while hitting a franchise-record nine three-pointers as the New Jersey Nets matched a franchise record for three-pointers made in a game with 15 in their 105-92 victory over the Grizzlies at Continental Airlines Arena.

Chucky Atkins posted 26 points and seven assists in the loss to New Jersey for the Grizzlies, who have lost six of their last seven games overall. Damon Stoudamire scored 14 points, while Hakim Warrick and Stromile Swift both netted 10 in defeat.

The Grizzlies are 3-5 at home this season. They are scheduled to host Joe Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

Portland has lost three of its last four at the Grizzlies, who have won two straight and seven of the last 10 contests in this series.
