Bobcats continue homestand vs. Kings

03.14.2007

(Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats resume their four-game homestand this evening when they welcome the Sacramento Kings to town.

Charlotte is 1-1 so far on the stand and put the brakes on a season-high, eight-game losing streak with Monday’s 119-108 win over the Orlando Magic at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

Derek Anderson scored 24 points off the bench and dished out 10 assists, while Gerald Wallace had 20 points and nine assists for the Bobcats, who knocked down a franchise high 14 three-pointers. Charlotte, which also set a franchise mark with 39 assists, is 7 1/2 games off the final playoff spot in the East.

Raymond Felton added 21 points and seven assists for Charlotte, which is 14-17 at home this season and will also host the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. In injury news for the Bobcats, guard Brevin Knight (groin) and center Ryan Hollins (flu) are both questionable against Sacramento.

Meanwhile, the Kings will resume a five-game road trip and suffered a 124-100 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opener of the swing on Tuesday at Quicken Loans Arena. Cavs guard LeBron James (back) didn’t play and the Kings still couldn’t take advantage.

Ron Artest, in his second game back from a suspension following his arrest last week on suspicion of domestic violence, finished with 19 points for the Kings, who dropped their third in a row after a four-game win streak. Kevin Martin scored 13 points and Mike Bibby finished with 12 for Sacramento.

The Kings, who are a game off the eighth and final playoff spot in the West, will also visit Miami, Orlando and Atlanta on the trek. Sacramento owns a 10-21 mark away from home this season.

Wednesday’s game between Sacramento and Charlotte is the second and final meeting of the season. The Kings won the first meeting by a 135-120 score on February 28 at ARCO Arena.

The home team has won all five meetings in the all-time series, which the Kings lead by a 3-2 margin.
