Matt Carroll added 17 points and Adam Morrison struck for 16 for the Bobcats, who outscored the Pistons 27-8 in the second quarter on the way to their 10th win (10-23) of the season.
Sean May had 14 points for Charlotte, which snapped a two-game skid. The Bobcats have won two of three meetings with the Pistons this season.
Richard Hamilton had 23 points for Detroit, but he was ejected late in the fourth quarter after picking up a pair of technicals. Tayshaun Prince tallied 19 points and Ronald Murray 18 for the Pistons, who have lost five of their last seven games.
Detroit led 27-18 after one quarter, but went 3-of-17 from the field in the second and trailed 45-35 at the half. Charlotte had the opening 12 points of the quarter, with Morrison accounting for the final eight.
A dunk by Carlos Delfino boosted Detroit to a 31-30 lead, but Morrison’s two free throws capped eight straight points from the Bobcats. The Pistons trailed the rest of the night.
Prince’s jam at the end of the third quarter had Detroit within 68-65, but every time the Pistons made a run, Charlotte had an answer.
A Prince hook shot brought Detroit within 69-67, but May’s two free throws finished a five-point flurry for the Bobcats.
Jake Voskuhl’s layup moved the margin to 80-68 with 8:34 remaining, and Detroit never got closer than four after that point.
Hamilton’s two free throws made it 91-87 with 1:43 left, but six consecutive free throws, including four from Carroll, sealed Charlotte’s win.

Derek Anderson had 11 points, while Emeka Okafor posted 10 points and 10 rebounds for Charlotte...Carroll missed one of his 10 free throws.
