Bobcats try to make it four wins in a row vs. Sixers

02.23.2007

(Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats will shoot for their fourth straight win tonight when they host the Philadelphia 76ers in North Carolina.

Charlotte made it three straight wins with Wednesday’s 100-95 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center. Rookie Adam Morrison scored 26 points to lead the Bobcats.

Matt Carroll scored 20 points for Charlotte, which snapped a four-game losing streak on the road. Gerald Wallace chipped in 18 points and Emeka Okafor finished with 12 points and 19 rebounds in the triumph.

The Bobcats have won two in a row at home and are 12-15 as the host this season. They are, however, tied with the Atlanta Hawks for last place in the Southeast standings.

On the injury front, Bobcats guard Jeff McInnis (ankle) is questionable for Friday and forward Sean May (knee) is doubtful versus Philly.

The Sixers, meanwhile, wrapped up a seven-game homestand with a 3-4 mark and posted a 104-84 victory over the New York Knicks in Wednesday’s finale.

Kyle Korver came off the bench to score a career-high 31 points at the Wachovia Center. Andre Miller added 19 points and five assists for the Sixers, who snapped a three-game slide. Joe Smith chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds, while Andre Iguodala finished with 10 points and nine assists.

Philadelphia will now open a two-game road trip and is 8-21 away from the City of Brotherly Love this season. The Sixers are 11 games off the lead in the Atlantic Division.

The NBA trade deadline passed on Thursday afternoon and the Sixers made a deal with the Utah Jazz. Philadelphia sent veteran forward Alan Henderson to the Jazz for the rights to exchange second round draft picks in the 2007 draft.

Friday’s game between Charlotte and Philadelphia is the third or four meetings this season. The 2006-07 series is tied at a game apiece, but Charlotte has won four of the last six meetings.

Philadelphia has lost three straight at the Bobcats and leads the all-time series by a 5-4 margin.
