Bobcats, Wizards tangle at Verizon Center

12.1.2006

(Basketball News) - The Washington Wizards shook off a nagging losing streak and will now seek their second straight win, as they welcome the Charlotte Bobcats tonight to the Verizon Center.

Washington had lost four straight until posting a 96-95 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.

Gilbert Arenas had 21 points with seven assists and five rebounds to lead the Wizards. Caron Butler also tallied 21 points and Antawn Jamison recorded 18 points for the Wizards, who are 1-1 on a three-game homestand and 5-2 as the host this season.

The Bobcats, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four games. On Wednesday they suffered a 99-90 loss to the Hawks at Philips Arena.

Sean May and Raymond Felton scored 21 points apiece in the loss. May also had 17 boards off of the bench, while Brevin Knight scored 17 points for the Bobcats.

Charlotte is 1-1 on a three-game road trip and owns a 2-6 road mark this season.

Washington went 3-1 against the Bobcats last season and has won three straight and seven of the eight all-time meetings.

Charlotte has lost all four matchups at Washington.
