(Basketball News) - The Boston Celtics fell to the Portland Trail Blazers, 105-98, on Wednesday at the FleetCenter.
Ricky Davis paced Boston with 27 points, as he connected on 12-of-19 shots from the field. Paul Pierce chipped in 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Celtics, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Chucky Atkins added 14 points and eight assists for Boston, which is one game behind the New York Knicks for the seventh position in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics are off until Friday when they host the Golden State Warriors. It will be the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. On December 29th, the Celtics defeated the Warriors, 100-91, at the Arena in Oakland.
Davis has scored in double digits in four straight games. He has averaged 15 points and 4.3 rebounds in that span.
