(Basketball News) - Paul Pierce scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 100-89 victory over Washington on Friday at the FleetCenter.
Mike James added 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting for the Celtics, who won their second straight overall and 12 of their last 14 at home versus the Wizards. Mark Blount and Ricky Davis each pitched in 14 points, and Jiri Welsch netted 13. Blount notched a double-double with 14 rebounds.
Boston was also without Vin Baker, who was suspended indefinitely before the game due to his failure to comply with his aftercare treatment program for an alcohol problem. Baker was suspended for three games earlier this month for the same reason.
The Celtics, who improved to 12-10 at home, will return to action on Sunday against the New Jersey Nets.
