Boston’s Pierce sidelined with ankle injury

04.12.2004

Boston, MA (Basketball News) - Boston Celtics guard Paul Pierce sat out Monday’s game versus Miami because of a sprained right ankle.

Pierce suffered the injury during last Wednesday’s contest against the Heat. He will most likely miss Wednesday’s regular season-finale versus Atlanta as well since Boston is already locked into the eighth position in the Eastern Conference.

In 80 games this season, Pierce is averaging a team-high 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.

The Celtics will face the conference-leading Pacers in the first round of the playoffs. The two clubs met in the opening round of the postseason last year and Boston ousted Indiana in six games.
