Boston, MA (Basketball News) - The Boston Celtics announced Friday that they have exercised the 2005-06 option on guard Jiri Welsch.

Welsch, acquired in October 2003 from the Dallas Mavericks, averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 81 games last season with Boston.

Welsch was originally selected with the 16th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2002 NBA Draft.
