(Basketball News) - The Chicago Bulls fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime, 92-89, on Thursday.
Jalen Rose led the Bulls with 25 points, but missed a crucial free throw down the stretch to allow the Timberwolves to tie the game in regulation. Eddy Curry added 15 points and nine boards for Chicago, which has lost 10 of 11 to Minnesota.
With the game tied at 86-86 in overtime, Latrell Sprewell hit a turnaround jumper from just inside the three-point line as the shot clock expired, putting the Timberwolves ahead for good with 57 seconds to play.
After the two teams traded turnovers, Scottie Pippen misfired on a corner three. Sam Cassell was then fouled and hit both of his free throws. Cassell later hit two more free throws to help secure the victory.
Chicago turned the ball over 21 times in the contest.
The Bulls lost guard Jamal Crawford after he was taken from the court on a stretcher after falling awkwardly on his head early in the fourth quarter. Crawford was guarding Fred Hoiberg at the three-point line and went for Hoiberg’s head fake. He jumped in the air and landed on Hoiberg as he was attempting to shoot.
Crawford did almost a full flip and came down on his head, apparently injuring his neck. The 23-year-old was immobilized and taken from the court on a stretcher.
Chicago forward Tyson Chandler missed his fourth straight game for the Bulls due to a bruised lower back.
The Bulls are off until Saturday when they host Ronald Murray and the Seattle SuperSonics.
