Cleveland Cavaliers Team Report - November 13 11.13.2003
|
(Basketball News) - The Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated by the Miami Heat, 88-83, on Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
LeBron James scored 18 points and dished out a team-high seven assists, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas paced Cleveland with 20 points. Carlos Boozer led the Cavs with career-high tying 16 rebounds, but the team still had their two-game winning streak come to an end.
Cleveland came back to cut a Miami fourth quarter lead that grew as large as nine points down to three with less than a minute and a half to play. Two James free throws, an Ilgauskas dunk and a jumper by Boozer made the score 86-83.
But Cleveland blew its last chance when Eddie Jones’ pressure defense on James led to Ilgauskas’ pass skipping off the rookie and out of bounds with less than 20 seconds remaining. Dwayne Wade iced the game with two free throws to give Stan Van Gundy his first win as an NBA head coach.
The Cavs have lost all five of their road games this year, and haven’t won on the road since an 87-79 victory over Seattle SuperSonics on January 12, 2003, a span of 26-straight games.
The Cavaliers are off until Friday when they travel to Boston to take on Paul Pierce and the Celtics.
