The Clippers are currently eighth in the Western Conference playoff race and posted their third straight win with Wednesday’s 90-82 victory over the rival Los Angeles Lakers.
Corey Maggette scored 22 points and Cuttino Mobley added 18 points and seven assists for the Clippers, who won for the seventh time in eight games. Los Angeles, which is a game ahead of Golden State and 1 1/2 games behind No. 7 Denver in the West, improved to 24-13 as the host this season.
Meanwhile, the Nuggets have won four straight and posted a 75-71 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday at the Pepsi Center.
Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and Allen Iverson added 22 for the Nuggets, who remain just a half game behind the LA Lakers for the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings.
The Nuggets will take their winning streak on the road where they own an 18-18 record this season. In injury news for Denver, Iverson (hip) and forward Eduardo Najera (tibia) are questionable against the Clippers.
Saturday’s showdown between Denver and LA is the third and final meeting of the regular season. The season series is split so far, but the Clippers have won four of the last five meetings.
Denver has lost three straight and four of its last five at the Clippers.
