Kaman had been signed through the 2006-07 campaign, after which he would become a restricted free agent, with the Clippers holding the right of first refusal.
The 24-year-old product of Central Michigan was selected by Los Angeles with the sixth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. This past season, he averaged a career high of 11.9 points per game and ranked ninth in the NBA with 9.6 rebounds over 78 games, in addition to ranking 12th in field-goal percentage (.523) and 24th in blocks per game (1.38). Kaman also averaged 10.7 points and eight rebounds in 11 playoff games during his first career postseason appearance.
"We are absolutely thrilled to ensure that Chris [Kaman] will be here and staying with the Clippers for a long time to come," vice president of basketball operations Elgin Baylor said. "He is one of the best young big men in the league and we feel that he will just continue to get better."
