Clippers starting to get their act together

01.31.2007

(Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Clippers are trying to get back to the postseason for the second straight year. They have climbed back to .500 (22-22) and look like they are back to playing solid basketball.

The Chicago Bulls try to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the surging Clippers on Wednesday at the Staples Center. It is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Bulls are scheduled to host the Clippers on March 20th at the United Center.

Chicago has won 11 of its last 16 at the Clippers, who have won three of the last four in the series.

Los Angeles tries to win consecutive games against the Bulls before embarking on a seven-game road trip. Elton Brand poured in 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Clippers defeated the SuperSonics, 98-76, on Sunday at KeyArena.

Veteran Sam Cassell was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range and finished with 21 points and seven assists in the win over Seattle for the Clippers, who have won five of their last six games overall. Cuttino Mobley and Corey Maggette both had 10 points, while Chris Kaman pulled down 15 rebounds in the victory.

The Clippers are 16-8 as the host this season. They will visit Boston, Toronto, New York, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Indiana and Detroit on the upcoming road trip.

Cassell is averaging 14.6 points and a team-best 5.6 assists per game. The 6-3 Cassell has scored in double-digits in three straight games and is averaging 16.7 points and 7.0 assists in that span.
