Clippers visit Portland

12.15.2006

(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers attempt to extend their winning streak to a season-best four games when they host the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Rose Garden.

Portland opens a three-game homestand this evening. Zach Randolph scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Trail Blazers to an 85-79 win over the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.

Ime Udoka finished with 15 points in the win over the Grizzlies for Portland, which earned its first three-game winning streak of the season with the win. Jarrett Jack and Juan Dixon scored 11 points apiece for the Blazers.

The Trail Blazers are scheduled to host the Houston Rockets on Wednesday and the Toronto Raptors on December 22nd. Portland is 4-6 at the Rose Garden this season.

LA attempts to halt a two-game losing streak. On Wednesday, Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams combined for 56 points, 16 rebounds and 18 assists as the Utah Jazz defeated the Clippers, 105-86, at the Staples Center.

Elton Brand scored a team-high 20 points in the loss to Utah for the Clippers, who have dropped three of their last four games overall. Chris Kaman had a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards, while Tim Thomas scored 16 points in defeat.

The Clippers are 1-7 as the visitor this season. They return home to host Houston on Sunday and Toronto on Wednesday at the Staples Center.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 6th, Corey Maggette led a balanced Los Angeles attack with 20 points and nine rebounds as the Clippers topped the Trail Blazers, 102-89, at the Staples Center.

The Clippers have won two straight after losing their last 12 at Portland. The Clippers have won five in a row in this series.
