Clippers visit the Hornets

(Basketball News) - A pair of teams with losing streaks meet tonight, as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets host the Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Ford Center.

The Hornets have lost four in a row and play the finale of a four-game homestand. On Saturday, Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington scored 27 points apiece as the Indiana Pacers defeated New Orleans/Oklahoma City, 100-93, at the Ford Center.

Desmond Mason led the Hornets with 28 points in the loss to Indiana. Jannero Pargo netted 14 off the bench, while Devin Brown and Marc Jackson both scored 11 points in defeat.

New Orleans/Oklahoma City continues to play without star guard Chris Paul (sprained right ankle) and forwards Peja Stojakovic (lower back) and David West (right forearm/elbow). Paul, was injured on December 26th, leads the team in scoring (18.4 ppg) and assists (9.0 apg). Stojakovic is averaging 17.8 points per game and last played on November 24th, while West (right forearm/elbow) is averaging 17.4 points and 8.3 rebounds and has not played since November 12th.

Guard Bobby Jackson (cracked left rib) is questionable for tonight’s contest. He has missed 17 games this season for the Hornets.

The Hornets are 7-9 as the host this season. They will visit the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday at Philips Arena.

Los Angeles has lost two straight contests and plays the fifth of a six-game road trip. Joe Johnson scored 27 points to lead the Hawks over the Clippers, 86-74, at Philips Arena.

Elton Brand scored 26 points and pulled down seven boards in the loss to Atlanta for the Clippers, who have dropped three of their last four games overall. Tim Thomas scored 14 points and grabbed six boards in defeat.

On the injury front for the Clippers, guards Corey Maggette (ankle) Sam Cassell (plantar fasciitis in left heel) are questionable for tonight’s contest. Maggette is averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds, while Cassell has posted 13.3 points and 4.6 assists per game.

The Clippers are 3-13 on the road this season. They are scheduled to visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday at the Target Center.

This is the second meeting of the campaign between the Hornets and Clippers, On November 12th, Brand collected 22 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Clippers past New Orleans/Oklahoma City, 92-76, at the Staples Center

The Clippers have lost two straight meetings at the Hornets.
