Cincinnati’s Bob Huggins cited for drunk driving

06.11.2004

Cincinnati, OH (Basketball News) - University of Cincinnati men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins was pulled over by police earlier this week for allegedly driving under the influence.

WLWT television is reporting that police in Fairfax, a suburb of Cincinnati, stopped Huggins for failing to maintain his lane. The police report states that Huggins’ speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

Huggins was ticketed but not jailed, according to Fairfax police officials.

The 50-year-old Huggins, who is preparing for his 16th season at Cincinnati, is one of the winningest active coaches in Division I, having compiled a 542-191 record in 23 seasons. He is 374-119 as Cincinnati’s head coach, having directed UC to postseason play in each of his 14 seasons there.

Huggins also coached at Akron for five years before joining Cincinnati and spent three years at NAIA Walsh College.
