Derek Wright paced his team with 18 points and Fernandez Lockett dropped in 12 points for the Governors (3-5), who had won three of their last four coming into this non-conference affair.
The Tigers scored the first 12 points of the contest to gain immediate command. Robert Dozier had eight of those points, including a slam with 16:22 on the clock that made it 12-0.
Lockett stopped the run with a dunk of his own, but Memphis ripped off 10 straight points from there to up its advantage to 22-2. The home team also scored the final six points of the half to take a 47-25 lead in into the break.
Austin Peay did not seriously threaten in the second half.
