(Basketball News) - Dirk Nowitzki recorded 35 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 126-109 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday at American Airlines Center.
Steve Nash scored a season-high 31 points and also handed out 10 assists as the Mavericks clinched a playoff spot and moved within two games of Memphis of the fifth seed in the West. Dallas, winners of back-to-back contests, also received 19 points and seven boards from Josh Howard.
The 126 points for the Mavericks were one shy of a season high and the team improved to 6-0 when scoring more than 120.
Dallas is off until Thursday when it hosts the Sacramento Kings. It will be the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The Mavericks are 2-1 against the Kings.
Nash has averaged 16.5 points and 10.3 assists in his last 10 contests. He has scored in double digits in nine straight and 18 of his last 19 contests.
