Date set for Darrell Armstrong trial

11.6.2003

Orlando, FL (Basketball News) - New Orleans Hornets guard Darrell Armstrong is scheduled to go to trial on December 1 for allegedly slapping the hand of a policewoman on July 7. A judge set the date on Thursday.

Armstrong was arrested and charged with battery on a law-enforcement officer and resisting arrest without violence. The battery charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

The 35-year-old Armstrong has been accused of slapping a female police officer’s hand away as she tried to get him to leave the outside of an Orlando nightclub.

Armstrong, who is in his 10th year in the NBA, is averaging 8.2 points and 4.2 assists in five games with the Hornets this season. He was signed as a free agent in the offseason after spending the first nine years of his career in Orlando.

In 507 career games, Armstrong has posted averages of 11.7 points and 5.1 assists.
