Davis leads Warriors past Magic 12.22.2006

Trevor Ariza had a career-high 23 points and Jameer Nelson scored 22, but the Magic, who had won their previous two games, were unable to hold on for their third straight win. Grant Hill scored 21 points and doled out seven assists, and Dwight Howard scored 15 points and grabbed 13 boards in the loss.
Mike Dunleavy and Monta Ellis provided some major sparks off the bench, scoring 21 and 18 points, respectively. Mickael Pietrus scored 15 points for Golden State, which has won two straight after dropping three in a row to start this six-game road trip.
Golden State pulled away late in the fourth, with Dunleavy draining two threes in the last two minutes, the second putting the Warriors up 112-104 with 51 seconds remaining, effectively icing the game.
A Travis Diener three had brought the Magic to within 90-89 with 9:03 left, but the Warriors responded with a 10-3 run, taking a 100-92 lead on a Davis layup with 5:19 left.
The Warriors managed to take the lead on a 13-5 push early in the third quarter, with a Matt Barnes dunk putting the Warriors up 61-60 with just under eight minutes left in the third. Golden State pushed the lead up to seven, but Orlando took an 81-80 lead into the fourth quarter after Ariza converted a three-point play with 18 seconds left in the third.
The Magic started hot, scoring the game’s first eight points, and led 13-5 after Nelson drilled a three with 9:29 left in the first quarter. The Warriors responded with a 14-6 run, tying the game at 19-19 on a driving layup by Ellis with just over three minutes left in the first. Orlando closed the quarter on a 12-4 run, though, and took a 31-23 lead into the second quarter.
Orlando could only draw iron early in the second, missing 11 of its first 12 shots from the field, but Golden State didn’t fare much better, and still trailed 35-30 after Keyon Dooling ended the Magic drought with a jumper with just under eight minutes left. The Orlando lead stood at 52-48 at halftime.

Golden State’s Andris Biedrins fell hard on his side after fighting for a rebound, and limped off of the court. He did not return...Golden State had lost 12 of 13 in Orlando coming into the game...Golden State’s bench, led by Dunleavy and Ellis, outscored Orlando’s, 47-25.
