(Basketball News) - The Denver Nuggets fell to the Boston Celtics, 104-100, on Wednesday at the FleetCenter. Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points for Denver, which lost forward Nene to an injury in the third quarter.
Nene, who finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds, left with 7:56 to go in the third after he sprained his left ankle. Voshon Lenard netted 19 points and Marcus Camby added 16 for Denver, which had its two-game winning streak snapped. Andre Miller contributed 12 points and nine assists in the setback.
The Nuggets are in eighth place in the Western Conference, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Anthony has averaged 23.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and four assists in his last 10 games.
Denver is off until Friday when it visits the Detroit Pistons. This is the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. On March 6, the Nuggets were crushed by the Pistons, 97-66, at the Pepsi Center.
