(Basketball News) - The Detroit Pistons take aim at their ninth consecutive win this evening when they close out their regular season against the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre.
On Monday, Richard Hamilton scored 24 points and recorded a career-high 12 assists to lead the Pistons to a 101-79 win over the Washington Wizards at the Palace.
Mike James added 21 points for Detroit, which has won 16 of 18 and 20 of its last 23. Ben Wallace added four points and 12 boards, as the Pistons posted their 11th straight win at home.
Wallace needs just one rebound to become the first player in league history to have four seasons of at least 1,000 rebounds, 100 steals and 100 blocks. He has done it in each of the last three years. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon and Sam Lacey all did it three times.
Bob Lanier is the only player Detroit player to post 1,000 boards and 200 blocks in a season (1973-74).
On the injury front, guard Chauncey Billups missed his third straight game with an ankle injury and will likely sit out tonight’s contest. Rasheed Wallace also missed last night’s contest with a foot injury and will sit out tonight’s game as well.
The Pistons, who are 3-8 in games played on Tuesday this season, have won six of eight and nine of their last 12 on the road and are 23-17 away from home this year.
Detroit has defeated the Raptors three times this season and has won eight of nine and nine of the last 11 matchups. The Pistons have also won five straight in Toronto and are 14-2 all-time as the visitor in this series.
