Starting point guard Tony Parker also played for the first time this season after missing the team’s first seven games because of an ankle injury.
Duncan sat out the Spurs’ last three games with a sprained ankle. He finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four blocks during an 87-78 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday.
Parker added nine points on 2-of-10 shooting in the victory.
Duncan suffered a sprained left ankle in the first quarter of a loss to Memphis last week when he came down awkwardly on a jumper. He was forced to leave the contest after scoring 10 points in the game’s first seven minutes and did not return.
Duncan and Parker led the Spurs to a league-best 60-22 record, their third straight Midwest Division title and an NBA title last season.
