Ginobili, Bonner lead Spurs past T-Wolves

Tim Duncan had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Brent Barry tallied 13 points for the Spurs, who have won six straight and remains two games behind the Phoenix Suns for the second-best mark in the Western Conference with three games left. Robert Horry tallied 11 points, as San Antonio has won 25 of 28 since the All-Star break.

Mike James had 23 points for the Timberwolves, who concluded a four-game homestand winless. Randy Foye added 16 points and Ricky Davis finished with 15 points and seven boards for Minnesota, which has dropped eight of 10 overall and played its second game without center Kevin Garnett.

Garnett is out for the rest of the season with a right quad injury.

"Obviously, not having Kevin Garnett makes a huge difference," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "If we didn’t have Tim Duncan, we’d look a little different too. I thought we had good energy and got after it pretty well. We are getting ready for the playoffs and we played pretty well."

San Antonio began to pull away late in the first quarter. With the game tied at 18, the Spurs scored 12 of the final 15 points of the stanza to take a 30-21 lead into the second. Bonner had six of the points for San Antonio, which continued to pour it on in the next stanza.

Leading 36-28 three minutes into the quarter, the Spurs went on an 11-4 run to go ahead by 15 points. Barry scored the first five points of the run, which Horry ended with a trey for a 47-32 advantage. The Spurs later increased their advantage to 55-37 and cruised into halftime with a 55-39 cushion.

The lead continued to balloon in the third quarter, reaching 25 points, 66-41, after a Bruce Bowen bucket in the early stages of the half.

Minnesota never threatened after that, going into the fourth down 85-60.

"We didn’t get a lot of open looks," said Minnesota head coach Randy Wittman. "We had to do a lot off the dribble. We only had 10 assists on 36 baskets. That’s not usual."
