Ginobili, Spurs roll past Clippers

Beno Udrih added 14 points, Brent Barry donated 11 points, and Jacque Vaughn and Michael Finley compiled 10 points apiece. The Spurs won their ninth straight without the services of Tony Parker, who missed the contest with a left hip flexor. Tim Duncan also only scored nine points on 4-of-9 shooting with 12 boards.

"Our defense was great. Holding them to 34 points in the first half (was key)," said Ginobili.

Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 19 points and Elton Brand added 15 in defeat, the club’s second in three games.

"Our defense was okay, but we made some mistakes and they made us pay the price," said Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy.

The Clippers scored just 34 points in the first half, falling behind 43-34 after 30 minutes.

However, after a Chris Kaman layup brought the Clippers within 44-40, the Spurs ran off 17 straight points to take control of the contest.

Bruce Bowen started the stretch with a jumper and Ginobili tallied nine consecutive points, capped by a three-pointer with 4:46 on the clock. The Clippers missed seven straight shots during the scoreless frame.

The Spurs led 88-74 after three quarters and were never seriously threatened in the final 15 minutes.
