Gordon, Bulls trounce Warriors

03.1.2007

Chicago, IL (Basketball News) - Ben Gordon scored 22 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds as the Chicago Bulls used a dominant third quarter to pound the Golden State Warriors, 113-83.

Thabo Sefolosha scored a career-high 19 points, while Adrian Griffin posted a career-high point total of his own with 17 for the Bulls, who outscored the Warriors 33-11 in the third for the decisive victory.

Tyrus Thomas tied a career-high with 14 points and Luol Deng contributed 13 points, six assists and five rebounds as Chicago put the breaks on a two-game skid and improved to 23-8 at home this season.

Kelenna Azubuike scored 23 points, Jason Richardson had 17 and Monta Ellis 16 for the Warriors, who have lost four in a row.

"Losing games like this by 30 points its tough," said Richardson. "It makes for real slim chances to get into the playoffs."

Holding a slim 62-58 lead at the break, the Bulls got started with an early 9-0 spurt in the third, capped by a Kirk Hinrich three, to extend their lead to 12.

Then, after baskets by Andris Biedrins and Azubuike brought the Warriors back within eight, Chicago ripped off 10 straight points to grab a 82-64 advantage with just under six minutes left in the third. The Bulls then put the nail in the coffin with an 11-2 run to close the quarter out and take a 95-69 lead.

The Bulls went into cruise control from there as Golden State was unable to put a serious run together in the fourth.

Chicago led 31-28 after the opening 12 minutes before taking a four-point lead into the locker room.

"At half-time we had a lead but not playing at our highest level," said Bulls head coach Scott Skiles. "If we did we felt we could pull away from them. We picked it up and pulled away from them."

Game Notes

Golden State was once again without guard Stephen Jackson, who is out with a small fracture in his left big toe...The Warriors have lost five straight on the road and 12 of the last 14 as the visitor...Hinrich finished with 12 points and four assists for Chicago.
